Dissatisfaction with an election added to unbridled hunger for power leads to the formation of the most sinister and destructive of all works of darkness: a secret combination (1:3-12; 2:13-14)

Lamanite leadership continues to be composed of Nephite dissenters (1:15-16)

Helaman, son of Helaman, and grandson of Alma, the younger, is elected the new chief judge (2:2)

There are many records about the Nephite civilization (13-16)

The secret combination continues to cause trouble, but still in a small scale (23)

Great prosperity in the Church (24-26)
