Section 133

- Leave spiritual Babylon behind and go to Zion (7-9,14)

- But do not leave in haste: all things must be prepared beforehand (15)

- More events associated with the Second Coming of the Lord (23-33)

- Greater blessings are in store for those who wait for the Lord (45, 62)

- The fulness of the gospel was sent to prepare the people for the glories of the future (57-58)


 
Section 134

- Governments were instituted by God for the benefit of man, and they are accountable to Him (1)

- There can be no peace without inviolate laws providing: (2)

- Civil officers are necessary: (3-4)

- Religion was instituted by God  (4)

- Sedition and rebellion are unbecoming (i.e. inappropriate) to those whose rights are protected  (5)

- Without laws, peace and harmony would be supplanted by anarchy and terror  (6)

Revelation given to Pres. Brigham Young,
President of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles

- The organization of the trek across the plains (1-15)

- Joseph's death was no accident (39)

- He was faithful in his mission (38)
- Enemies of the kingdom should not be feared; they have no power to stop this work (17)
- The Lord himself will deal with the enemies (30)

Is there a way to hinder the progress of the Church? See Mosiah 27:13; Alma 4:10

- Zion shall be redeemed in the Lord's own due time (18; also read 105:9-10, 13-14)
"Own": belonging to oneself--used to emphasize or intensify the idea of property or exclusive ownership; also used to indicate or intensify the idea of one's own self as agent or doer

"Due": adequate; scheduled; appropriate according to accepted notions of what is right, reasonable, fitting, or necessary

- We cannot redeem Zion on our own, independent from the Lord (19)

- Several commandments aimed at fostering a better community (20-29)

- The Lord's people need to be tried before receiving glory (31, 37)

- The Spirit of the Lord is sent to enlighten the humble and contrite (32-33)

- Judgments to fall upon any nation that rejects and kills the prophets (34-36)

- We can bear the Lord's glory through obedience to the words of His prophets (37)

1. Why did the Lord send the fulness of his gospel? (133:57)

2. Does the Lord care about nations and kingdoms? Isn't he is too powerful to pay attention to their imperfect political systems? (134:1)
